Notarially confirmed
The legal requirements that have to be met by documents issued abroad and their use in Estonia as well as the use of documents issued in Estonia abroad differ. In that case, the translation of the document needs to be certified by a notary or a sworn translator in order for it to be internationally and legally accepted as authentic.
A public document (all administative documents, including but not limited to diplomas, certificates, warrants etc.; documents issued by the Court, including but not limited to documents issued by the bailiff, copies of the Court´s judgements etc.) that has been issued abroad or has been issued in Estonia and is intended for use abroad, needs to be certified by Apostil (a certificate attached permanently to the document proving its authenticity and the legal competence of the person who has signed it) or legalised (e.g. documents issued in Canada).
Documents that are intended for use or have been issued in one of the countries with which Estonia has signed a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (e.g. Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine Poland) are not required to be be legalised or certified by Apostil.
If you require an official (cetified) translation, please contact us in order to specify the nature of the document that needs to be translated.
